Peppie Wiersma is Artistic Director of LUDWIG, a collective of outstanding musicians ( and Festival De Nacht van Electra (

As a timpanist and percussionist she played and recorded with a large number of conductors (Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herreweghe, Peter Eötvös) soloists, ensembles and orchestras (Pierre-Laurent Aimard, the Orchestre des Champs-Éélysées, Ensemble Modern, Schönberg Ensemble, Musikfabrik, Orchestra of the 18th Century) and among today's best known composers (György Ligeti, Klas Torstensson, Karlheinz Stockhausen). She was a member of the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble for 22 years, and principal timpanist in the Radio Kamer Filharmonie until 2013.

In 2008 she initiated the Nacht van Electra, a one-night-festival inspired by the landscape in the beautiful region of Northwest-Groningen.

Since 2013 she is the artistic director of Ludwig: a brand new collective of respected and creative musicians.
